interesting, google is usually really smart about keeping on everybody's good side. I think they are getting too confident in people's loyalty to their programs. This is when empires fall!

Well, Google's algorithms merely represent the consensus on the internet. It's the same as when googling "waffles" led to John Kerry's homepage, and "miserable failure" led to George W. Bush's bio.

The exception is "Islam is" has been removed by hand, probably to avoid pissing people off.

Well google is definitely biased, because if it were based on a consensus, how come when u type in "christianity is goo" you get 25 million results and if you type in "christianity is " you get 20 million results for christianity is true.

Where as if you simply type "Christianity is" you get all these labels that are of negative desciption with results of usually no more than 5 million each.

likewise, you type in "religion is" you get all these negative results, but only with numbers no higher than 15 million, but typing in "religion is goo" will give u 168 million for "religion is good"

There is no "consensus" that google uses. seems like it's being biased.

Krnchoe,

It's not about the sheer number of results. Google is not so shallow as that. Have you ever heard of PageRank? PageRank is the algorithm that Google uses to decide which pages are "more legit" than other pages. It basically boils down to a weighted voting system: a page's quality is based on the number and quality of the pages that link to it.

In other words, an authoritative New York Times column on "Christianity is false" is going to be weighted heavier than 10,000 spam-filled pages with "Christianity is good" plastered all over them.

Case and point: the phrase "Christianity is the most perverted system ever shone upon man." Why does this result show up, while it only has 44 thousand pages?

Because it's a quote from Thomas Jefferson, and he's a pretty "high-quality" figure. And Thomas Jefferson's quote has probably been linked to by millions of other "high-quality" webpages.
